- Numbers are combined in Arabic like in German: one and twenty, two and twenty, three and twenty…
- 2 is the only number that changes when combined with another one. We say: jôj ktôba جوج كتوبة (two books), and tnayn o 3shrîn ktâb تناين أُ عشرين كتاب (twenty two books), but never jôj o 3shrîn ktâb جوج أُ عشرين كتاب.
O means and. In 21 (one and twenty) and 22 (two and twenty) for example, and stayed as o because wâ7d واحد (one) and tnayn تناين (two) end with consonants. When numbers coming before 3shrîn عشرين (twenty) for instance end with vowels, then o becomes w, to avoid having two consecutive vowels.
