Days in Moroccan Arabic

The names of days in Moroccan Arabic are not too different from Modern Standard Arabic.

They only differ slightly in pronunciation, and therefore in spelling.

Conventional Names of Months in Moroccan Arabic

In Darija, we conveniently call months by their order: month 1, month 2, month 3, and so on.

Note that this is different from ordinal names (first month, second month, third month, etc).

The Names of the Hijri Calendar Months

Since Morocco is a Muslim country, it’s also useful to learn about months in the Hijri calendar.

Hijri months, unlike in the Gregorian ones, are never referred to by their order in the calendar.
